Edmodo

Hi, I'm back with an excellent platform we can utilize to manage our classes and connect with the students. In this post, let me talk about 'Edmodo' and its reflection to English class.

Firstly, below are the features of Edmodo and what it is used for:

* Basically, it is a platform to manage the class.

* It enables us to communicate with students. (Sending messages/ announcements)

* It allows us to upload/ download the materials.

Via Edmodo, we can assign some exams, quizzes and homeworks to our students.

* It also allows us to share content with students (ppts, videos, documents etc).

* It enables both us and students to write comments to the post that we shared.

* It ensures us to divide students into small groups so they can work collaboratively.

How is it used?

To begin with, let's assume that you're going to create a class. It's very easy, just click the plus icon 'Create a class' and complete each of the required fields. Name your class, select the grade and the area. Then you can select who can join to your class.

At the left column you can see your classes, groups and hashtags you are interested in. At the top of the page you can see your calendar what's coming up next for you and messages from students or colleguages of yours.

After creating a class, you can share your class code with your students to join. At the left column you'll see the posts, folders, members and small groups. You can create a post or assignment with your students easily. Rather than giving them verbal instructions in the class, it's better to create assignments in which you can write the instructions and specify the due date via Edmodo and easier to see the students' folders at the same time. They'll be able to see the grades of their assignments.

Here, I created an Edmodo account to show you how it looks like.

Here is a video explaining how to use Edmodo.
